Another first for the little man!

This weekend, Tim, Oliver, and I had a first.  Oliver's first overnight away from me and Tim!  Gah!  Tim and I went to a joint birthday party for two of our close friends, and decided that we would benefit by having an adult night out, and Oliver would get some quality time in with my Dad and Jana (Grandpa Carl and Granny, to little O).  Tim and I were very nervous about the whole thing - almost 10 months of the little man every night and every morning - but we did enjoy coming home and just being able to crash and sleep in (note: I still did not sleep in.  Argh.).

So Tim and I went and got Sunday brunch, did some cleaning, and a little bit of grocery shopping before they dropped him off.  The report?  Oliver was perfect.  ::whew::  I was so concerned he was going to be crying uncontrollably or something but he was normal and stuck to his same routine.  He even got an open invitation back, so I suppose that means it went REALLY well.  Yeay!

So little man was back and after a barrage of smooches from Tim and me, we had some play time.

A little taller, and he will be a happy clam!

Always a good time when Daddy is behind the camera!

And although Oliver did not get to bed until very late - thank you Daylight Savings Time - it was wonderful to spend some extra time with the little guy.

Hangin' at mah crib.

I took a few photos without the bib (really, the drool train just continues), while Oliver was cruising around his crib.

O says,

Smirky babes

Little man loves slowly walking himself around the crib... and yes... still no crawling.  Although he is SO close to crawling, I still think he will walk before he can crawl.

Tim took a little video of Oliver shutting the door and playing with the camera.

And so it begins...

Sadly, I haven't had the time nor energy to upload some photos to my flickr account, thus no blog updates either.  Oliver has become very cranky, and clingy - Tim and I haven't had time to do anything.  Just google "cranky 9 month old," and a plethora of articles come up.  Something about the unable to walk combined with learning about feelings is a very nasty combination.  Doing the research, it does show that this too, shall pass.

Tim and Oliver even came to visit me again at the office yesterday, and it was the first time Oliver cried!  Gah!  I became "that person with the crying baby in the office."  How quickly I tried to calm him down.

Look for some photo updates soon!

9 month checkup

Oliver had his 9 month checkup on Tuesday - Tim was happy to report that no shots were given!  Yeay!  Oliver's 9 month stats:

Weight: 19lb 8 oz (31st percentile)
Height:  29" (73rd percentile)
Head circumference:  46cm or 18.2' (77th percentile)

We were quite shocked that Oliver was not even 20 pounds - have you seen his chubby little hands??  The doctor gave him a good once over and said he was a good looking baby.  I'm sure they have to say that, but boy, do I know he's good looking!  Ha!

Bonus video of Oliver playing with toys.  He also does this weird squinting thing with his eyes - I can only assume something was bothering them, because he had never done that before.

Quick weekend update

I have been a busy bee at work today - so I'll post really quickly a short blurb about the weekend.  ** I just noticed after posting this that I used the term "busy bee" a few weeks back!  Note to self:  get a thesaurus**

A quick photo of O and his cousin... and then I'll skip over his little puking incident on Friday... check!

017

Saturday, O and I met up with my friend Gina for coffee.  I haven't seen her in a long time.  She came sans Byron, so she enjoyed a little adult time (even if Oliver was there).

A few photos from my camera:

This spoon is delicious

Post nap smiles

Sunday's highlight included me making a delicious breakfast (scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, toast, coffee, and OJ) and also included Tim and I watching movies and playing with Oliver.  It was so blustery out, we did not make it out the entire day.  We watched Social Network, The Kids are All Right (after O fell asleep), and Whip it.  All were wonderful.  I also picked up Requiem for a Dream, which I had seen before, but had a hankering to see it again.  This is one that will be played AFTER Oliver goes to sleep.

That was the weekend in a nutshell - Oliver goes in for his 9 month check-up tomorrow!!  What a big guy!!  I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Per Tim's request...

Dearest Tim requested an update to the blog - so what better to post but a video of Tim and Oliver laughing and playing!

Love these guys so so so much.

Lots of new stuff

First a caveat that Tim and I are, in fact, not insane.

Oliver has mastered clapping (which so far has not gotten old), and after every time he clapped, we would say, "You did it!" or "I did it!"  And soon, it started to sound like HE was saying it, too.  I know he doesn't know what he is saying, but seriously.  I caught a little bit of it on video (but definitely not the clearest rendition).

Well?  Did you hear it?  Or are Tim and I like those people, as my mom puts it, "who look for Jesus in burnt toast."

Okay, yeah, and the clapping thing is just too adorable.

I also got a much better picture of Oliver's teeth - pay no attention to the acorn squash around his mouth.

Two teeth Oliver!

One last new item is that Oliver had his first bit of chicken this weekend (which he thought was delicious).  First protein!  Yep!  He is growing up TOO fast.
