18 month check-up!

It has been CRAZY BUSY at work lately, so I haven't been able to update the blog like I would like.  The most recent adventure for our little guy was his 18 month check-up!  The stats are as follows:
Height - 31.5" (26th percentile)
Weight - 25 pounds, 3 ounces (40th percentile)
Head circumference - 19" (70th percentile)

It should be noted that I fed him a very big breakfast, and they actually took his weight with clothes and shoes on (and a poopie in his diaper, muah ha ha), so the weight may have been a bit more than what it actually is, but I really did not want to have a discussion that he is too small.

The doc was pleased with his growth, and how well he was looking.  Oliver got two shots on this visit and took it like a man - screaming and crying.

Some other adventures include going to Swanson's Nursery.  I have told you about them before, and now they have a winter wonderland up there, including camels, santa, and REINDEER.

The camel was interested in O, but O was not so interested in the camel.

Here are some others from my camera over the past couple of weeks.

Also a video of Oliver practicing his balancing act on Tim's back.  He will be known as Oliver, the pantsless wonder!

Happy 18 months, buddy!  Can't believe the time has flown so fast!

Pink eye!

If it isn't enough that O was at the ER last Friday, we had to visit the doctor yesterday to get a scrip for antibiotics.  He woke up yesterday with his eye completely gooped up, red, and puffy.

Sick baby

The doc also found an ear infection, which explained his previously unexplainable fever from Saturday.  He hadn't been tugging on his ear or anything, so that was a bit of a shock.

Pink eye!

He was such a good sport yesterday!  Love him lots.  :-)

Oliver vs. coffee table

Oliver has learned how to climb up and over things, including from his toy box to the couch, over the armrest.  We spot him while he's doing this dangerous maneuver, but he slipped on Friday and went face first into the coffee table.

Result of O vs coffee table

A friend of mine just had to have her daughter's two teeth taken out because she went face first into a dresser after playing on the bed.  Tim took him to the ER (and I rushed from work), to be sure that he is okay and no stitches required.  He was bleeding A LOT from his mouth, but O was given the a-okay.

Brave baby

Swedish Hospital in Ballard got him in right away - they were in and out within 40 minutes.  They even gave him a bear to hug.  Oliver hung onto that thing for dear life for the next few hours!

The coffee table is now out of the house and staying with a friend of my mom for a while, until Oliver can roughhouse without smacking his face into a table.

One last photo of Oliver, aka Oliver the destroyer.  He has loved ripping everything out of his toybox.  He's a little too short to reach the things in the bottom, so Tim plopped him in and he loves it.  :-)

15 month check-up!

Oliver had his 15 month check-up today where he weighed in at an even 23 pounds.  This puts him in the 28th percentile.  The height I don't think was right, as last time they did it with him standing up, and this time it was with him laying down... so not a really apples to apples comparison.  He is definitely taller than he was before - he's been pulling things off of the bookshelf that he could not reach a few months ago!

Poor guy had one shot today, but he took it like a champ.  Love him.

I realized that I hadn't taken any photos or videos lately so I tried to get some last night.  Little man was on the move every time I picked up that camera!

Oliver just being a cutie patootie...

He has some molars coming in so the drool is BACK!  The only difference is now he rips the bibs off so now he has more wardrobe changes than Diana Ross!

Do you still that drool??

The babe

On Sunday, Oliver and I went down for some gelato after dinner (Tim was napping).  One thing that you can hang your hat on is Oliver's love for gelato - and ice cream, and frozen yogurt... just like his family!  :-)

Oliver + gelato = love

We also stopped by the spray park where he played in the water for a bit.  I am sad that summer is coming to a close.  I know next year, Oliver will be RUNNING through the spray park and wading pools!  So much fun to be had next year!

12 month check-up!

I do have photos and a little video of "Cupcake part 2" from yesterday that I have yet to upload, so in the mean time, I will share with you his 12 month stats, and some photos from my crappy phone.

Oliver had his well child check today:
Weight - 20 lbs, 15 oz (almost 23rd percentile)
Height - 30" (58th percentile)
Head circumference - 18.31" (54.5th percentile)

Even though he is in the thinner side weight-wise, the doctor said since he is still hitting all milestones and loves to eat, it is not a concern for her, and we are okay to switch to whole milk instead of formula!  Yeay!  We will finish off the container since it cost an arm and a leg, and then it's whole milk all the way.  I gave him some milk last week just to be sure he wasn't going to have any issues with it, and he drank it right up!

Oliver also had 4 shots today!  Poor guy!  I will skip over that nasty bit of crying and share some photos from Tuesday evening.  O and I took a walk, and stopped at the park.  He enjoyed crawling around.  Apologies in advance for the quality.

9 month checkup

Oliver had his 9 month checkup on Tuesday - Tim was happy to report that no shots were given!  Yeay!  Oliver's 9 month stats:

Weight: 19lb 8 oz (31st percentile)
Height:  29" (73rd percentile)
Head circumference:  46cm or 18.2' (77th percentile)

We were quite shocked that Oliver was not even 20 pounds - have you seen his chubby little hands??  The doctor gave him a good once over and said he was a good looking baby.  I'm sure they have to say that, but boy, do I know he's good looking!  Ha!

Bonus video of Oliver playing with toys.  He also does this weird squinting thing with his eyes - I can only assume something was bothering them, because he had never done that before.

6 month checkup!

Wow, 6 months already, Oliver?! He hit the 6 month mark on Thanksgiving, so it was partially thankful for Thanksgiving stuff, and the rest is about Oliver. The time is really flying by. I remember this time last year, I was still pretty nauseous and being crazy pregnant lady... and now we have this little guy who is practically going to college next week. You know, because time is going so fast... oh nevermind.

Little man had his 6 month appointment yesterday and had more shots including a flu shot. Tim reported that he was charming the ladies at the office, but his charm did not avoid the shots. He weighed in at 17 pounds, 3.5 ounces (42 percentile), which actually is not that much more than his 4 month check up. He is 27" long (69 percentile). Besides him sounding congested from his leftover cold, he is the perfect picture of health. Way to be, little O!

I tried him out in his high chair yesterday for the first time. We had been feeding him for a while now while he sits in his bumbo on the table. The problem is that he gets VERY distracted and makes feeding him a challenge. Now with nothing around for him to grab, feeding time goes faster!

Last night, Oliver and I watched Glee. Here he is watching a performance at sectionals.

Oliver says, Kurt! Come back to the New Beginnings! You're such a Gleek, little man.

Sickness... continued

I thought all was well this past weekend when Oliver seemed to be fine after his little fever incident last week, however he had progressed to coughing, sneezing, and runny/stuffy nose all this week. Wednesday afternoon, his eye had globbed over and after a diagnosis from the doctor, developed an eye infection. The past two nights have been absolutely awful - Tim and I have been up a lot. The Nose Frida has been our best friend lately.

So you haven't missed anything wonderful this week. I am being optimistic that he will be better and back to his old Oliver self soon!

BTW, no photos, because really, you don't want to see it.

One last bit of news - we found out that Tim's sister will be having a baby girl early next year! Yeay! Baby girl explosion!

First sickness!

I will finish the trip blogs tomorrow (I am still under the weather), but I needed to share.

Now here is a milestone that I do not want to hear, and it's that Oliver is sick! Gah! Hard to escape his mom being sick and the way he loves to shove his little fingers into your mouth like he's a dentist or something. I came home tonight from work and the little man was burning up - and so cranky!

I took his armpit temp and came back with a high 101.5 degrees. Yikes! I snapped a quick photo with my phone of him in the Bumbo while I was calling the on-call doctor:

Little O with his first fever.

The on-call doc calmed me down immediately, but my goodness - I can see why parents are so distressed when their children are sick! It's like, "WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE IT BETTER?! FROSTY? MONEY? WHAT IS IT?!" Even harder at this age is he can't tell me what he wants. For now, I am relying on my motherly instincts and giving him a big dose of love (and Tylenol).

4 month checkup!

I was going to wait to blog tomorrow, but I wanted to share Oliver's 4 month check-up that Tim took him to this morning. He weighed in at 15 pounds, 11 ounces (50th percentile), length at 25 inches (also 50th percentile) and Tim couldn't remember the head circumference but said it was in the 75th percentile because he is full of big brains. The doctor said he was looking very good - nothing like being a proud parent when the baby is so well behaved and perfect!

Yesterday, I took out a teething ring from the fridge to see if Oliver was interested. I took a little snippet of video. Methinks he likes it.

He was also a busy traveller yesterday with my mom. He visited G'G'pa again, and even swung around to Grandma Buss for a visit. Oliver loves south Seattle, for sure.

Oliver and his great grandma

Oliver even did a little tummy time at Great Grandma's.

Oliver frowns at tummy time Oliver loves tummy time?

Visiting G'G'pa, he says, "Get out of my seat!" Actually, he's quite smitten with him.

G'pa says, get out of my seat!

Oliver loves visiting and meeting new people. He really is the social butterfly!

Today he will most likely sleep a lot because of his vaccinations (which Tim tells me he only shrieked for a few seconds and then he was fine). Tim and I are both feeling a lot better, so we are that much closer to being able to smother him in kisses again!
