Dentist and weekend update!

Our little O had his first dentist appointment this past week, and he did WONDERFUL.  We went to Greenlake Kids Dentistry (the name drives me crazy.. Greenlake - one word??  WTH).  This place makes me wish I was a kid so I could get my teeth checked out here!  It is in a pretty new building, and the place was full of Oliver's favorite things.  Duplos.  Thomas the Engine.  Cars movie.  It also had big windows for Oliver to watch all the buses as they went by!

Sadly I only have one photo to share.  Somehow they didn't save??  I dunno.  Stupid phone.

These folks were WONDERFUL WONDERFUL WONDERFUL.  Love.

Saturday, Oliver and I went downtown to pick up some bridal shower gifts for my awesome friend Brooke.  We got there a little before opening so we watched the cars and buses from the parking garage.



Oliver had a wonderful time helping me pick things out.  We also checked out my old hangout at Westlake Center (back in my Sunglass Hut days), and my how things have changed! 

We went to the grocery store afterwards where Oliver had a sample of an orange.  He sucked on that thing the entire time.  Then, we went for a walk around the neighborhood - Oliver had to check out every nook and cranny of every rock, stick, leaf, and crack.  Good thing we were not in a hurry. 

       

After I got back from the bridal shower, Oliver and I picked up some Paseo sandwiches. Oliver was busy running through the riverstones next to the building.

Sunday we went down to the Farmer's Market. Oliver loved watching all the musicians. He was dancing for most but this one he is just content on having Tim hold him.

Another great weekend under our belt.  Can't believe he will be two in less than two months!  What?!

Weekend update

I really try to slow the weekends down, but don't you know it, time keeps going just as quickly as ever.  Oliver, Tim, and I had another fantastic weekend.  Nothing too fancy, but even running errands to the grocery store and Fred Meyer is so much better with the fam.

On more cuteness, Oliver's new favorite word is "No."  Even when he doesn't mean it.  "Oliver, is it time to get naked?" "NO!"  "Do you want to leave your clothes on? "NO!"  He has the cutest little voice so for now him saying no is pretty darn adorbs.

Also, I was busy folding laundry and had the radio on.  Oliver came in to keep me company and it turned into a dance party.  Those Stray Cats really can make a toddler shake and shimmy!



The thing with his fingers in the beginning is him trying to snap his fingers because that's what I was doing.  My little dancing buddy. 

School bus

My mom got Oliver this school bus which currently cannot leave his sight.  He woke up this morning pointing frantically to the school bus that was left on the nightstand. 

18 month check-up!

It has been CRAZY BUSY at work lately, so I haven't been able to update the blog like I would like.  The most recent adventure for our little guy was his 18 month check-up!  The stats are as follows:
Height - 31.5" (26th percentile)
Weight - 25 pounds, 3 ounces (40th percentile)
Head circumference - 19" (70th percentile)

It should be noted that I fed him a very big breakfast, and they actually took his weight with clothes and shoes on (and a poopie in his diaper, muah ha ha), so the weight may have been a bit more than what it actually is, but I really did not want to have a discussion that he is too small. 

The doc was pleased with his growth, and how well he was looking.  Oliver got two shots on this visit and took it like a man - screaming and crying. 

Some other adventures include going to Swanson's Nursery.  I have told you about them before, and now they have a winter wonderland up there, including camels, santa, and REINDEER. 

The camel was interested in O, but O was not so interested in the camel.

Happy 18 months, buddy!  Can't believe the time has flown so fast!

Halloween!

Okay, so I know it's been a while since my last post, so I promise this one will be filled with cuteness.  :-)  Oliver was a cow for Halloween.  Or a bull, depending on who you are asking.  My mom made him his costume, complete with a hat that had horns and ears, but he refused to wear it. 

We went over to my Mom's for dinner on Sunday, where my niece Chelsea was a chocolate chip cookie (outfit made by my SIL).

Several attempts were made to put his hat on. He always ripped it off as soon as you put it on. Stubborn as a bull. Hey-yo!

We even tried the hat on other people, myself included, and Oliver came over and ripped the hat off. I wasn't watching TV, but saw on this photo that "Fear Factor" is coming back? What?!

Monday evening, Oliver and I went down to Market St here in Ballard to do a little trick-or-treating. He definitely got that he was to hold the buck.

I got him out of the stroller, and he saw how the other kids would put up their candy vessel up for candy. So he gave it a try. The lady tossed in a dum-dum into Oliver's bucket.

          

        

Oliver was probably thinking, wow, she gave this to me!  After this, he refused to hold the bucket, and just wanted to carry the dum dum around.  He would burst into tears if I tried to give him the bucket.  I attempted to show him how you can get MORE candy... but he was satisfied with his one piece. 

So I was, too.  :-)

He had a wonderful time just watching the other kids that were dressed up.  We played a bit on the back patio before heading inside for a bath.  In his other hand is a box of Nerds, which he loved shaking.  Hey Oliver, Nerds are for eating!

Hike!

Gooooood Monday morning, y'all!  I am recalling the weekend in my head and thinking, where the heck did it go??  Oliver is learning so much right now, it's MADNESS.  After being a relatively quiet guy, he is really practicing the talking thing.  He does a lot of jabbering, but sometimes you can catch a word or two.

For example, as he squeals with delight chasing the cats, we can hear him say, "Ki-ki!" Something else that was funny - we were watching part of Sunday Night Football and there is a commercial where a guy at an auto body shop picks up the phone and says "Thank you for calling A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A Auto Body" and right after that line, Oliver says, "A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A."  We have really watched our language since he's been born, but this gives even more incentive to watch our P's and Q's.

Oliver recently got this little nerf football.  Tim has taught him how to hike the ball.  Silly guy now likes to just put his head on the ground and look between his feet!

We went to a potluck on Sunday that our daycare was hosting.  I brought my camera but forgot to take it out the whole time!  Darn!  It was a lot of fun, and we all are pretty good cooks.  :-)

Fall is in full swing so I hope we can get to the Arboretum before all the leaves are gone!

Oliver, aka the walking machine

I was going to update on how I am sick again, but it's really OLIVER who is the sick one.  We were notified by Oliver's daycare that the coxsackie virus, aka, hand, foot & mouth disease, was going around.  We thought little man was in the clear until he was up with a fever last night and had spots on his face, hands, and feet this morning.  :-(

So he is now at home today resting up. 

On to happier note, Oliver is officially a walker!  Yeay!  We went to a local event on Saturday down at the spray park, and Oliver actually walked around just like all the other kids.  I tried to get him to pose with Tim, but he was so distracted.  :-)

A few other cute photos over the past couple of days... first he shows us his new toy - the ever popular corn popper (I think it is LOUDER than it used to be).  He then shows us how awesome sand is.  He hearts Golden Gardens.

                  

G'Gpa was nice enough to buy Oliver some SHOES.  He was in need of them badly since he is walking now, but we haven't found any that fit his chubby little feet. 

Sunday, Oliver visited my mom's friends, Susan and Joe.  They have transformed this sandbox into a wading pool, which Oliver gives the thumbs up on!  Susan is entertaining Oliver with bubbles. :-)



So pre-sickness, Oliver has had a great couple of last days.  It's been SOOOO nice and warm!  One last video of Oliver rocking out on a box.

Little O and I went to Magnuson park on Friday, and it was his first time playing in the sand. 



These two kids let Oliver borrow this front loader (which matched his outfit, BTW).  Oliver loves to get dirty, and loves getting his toes in the sand.  Luckily, he still doesn't mind wearing a hat, too!

Shortly after these photos, a devil spawn toddler came up to Oliver and took a shovel out of his hand.  To make matters worse, this demon baby then threw sand in Oliver's face!  The nerve!  Would you believe that the babysitter just looked up from her magazine after seeing me trying to wipe sand out of O's eyes to ask if he (devil-baby) threw sand at him.  I replied, yes, in his face.  She said in the snottiest tone, "Sorry," and continued to read her magazine.

Boy was I fired up!  Some people really have no skills at all at being human.  Luckily I had some water in the car, so I was able to flush it all out (Oliver was not a fan of that).

The 4th of July was such a beautiful day, and I was trapped inside at work (why do I keep volunteering for these things??), so after Oliver spent the morning hanging with Tim, my mom came and swooped Oliver up and went to Seward Park with G'Gpa.

Also got more of Oliver with his bear.  I think we finally found a lovey for him!  Oliver is so picky with these things!  :-)

Since I worked on the 4th, I will be off tomorrow with the little man.  And the weather report shows to be cloudy with a high of 66!  Gah!  Why I can't get some good weather in the middle of July is beyond me...

Green Lake wading pool!

Saturday was the first day in a long time when it was A.) A weekend and B.) warm enough to go to the wading pool!

We first went over to my Dad and Jana's in the late morning, where Oliver had a lot of fun playing in the grass and throwing rocks out from underneath the Cedars.  Papa got some good photos of Oliver having his lunch picnic style.  Here's one of the two of them.  My dad is in mid-sentence, so I kinda caught him off-guard. :-)

Later in the afternoon, it was nice and warm (80 degree warm) so Tim and I broke out the swimmer diapers and went to the wading pool! 

Oliver found a big ball and crawled over to get it.  Joy!

Oliver also met this little lady - she was almost 2 months younger than Oliver but was WAY bigger.  Her dad said she is in the 95% for weight!

Would you believe I also got a little video of this cuteness!?  I was so on my game. 

Well, maybe not on my game fully, as what did Tim and I forget when we went to the wading pool?  A towel for little O!  What rookies we are! 

Oliver had a wonderful time - this will be a regular summer activity as long as we get some more hot days!

Oliver toys & more cousin time

So I know it has been far too long since my last blog update.  This past weekend, we had more play time with Chelsea as Nona, G'Gpa, Ali, Jim, and Chelsea came over for dinner.  These babes are so cute!  Chelsea is getting to be a big girl and can almost sit up on her own!

I even got to spend some time holding my niece.  She has the bluest eyes! 

Oliver also is showing how gentle he is with Spike!  We have been amazed that Spike has yet to swipe at the little O.  I know it will happen at some point (a learning lesson for Oliver, I'm sure), but still amazed that Spike and Bailey have either taken Oliver's beatings or have ran away from him.

Oliver and I also went to the park over the weekend where he got to spend some time crawling around in the grass (he loves it).

Oliver the gardener | Yeay for nice weather

I have been a bit under the weather with a cold since Sunday evening.  Who gets a cold in the summertime??  Really?  I'm sure Oliver will be getting sick here soon (Tim said he wasn't feeling too good last night, either).

Before the clouds rolled in, Sunday was a beautiful day.  We went to my Dad and Jana's place for a bit and Oliver loved crawling and playing in the grass.  His favorite was pulling apart the flowers in the barrels. 

We came home, and then my mom came by to swoop Oliver up to take him to a party of a friend of hers.  Oliver charmed a new lady friend there.  :-)



Here's to hoping for more nice weather and healthy persons!

At the park

On Saturday, Oliver and I went to go visit my mom at work.  She is lucky enough to work in Magnuson Park.  This was an old military base, but it now a huge park, filled with off-leash dog areas (even into Lake Washington, lucky dogs!), huge play fields, and a pretty big play structure area for kids.  It was a really nice day out, so we went to the play structure and took Oliver around to some of the little kiddie fun stuff.

                 

First stop was the baby swing.  A friend of mine recently took some photos of her son in one, and it looked too cute, so Oliver had to get in on the action, too!

Next was the slide.  I was impressed that he was able to stay sitting up all the way down, for never being on one before.  He had a HUGE smile on his face every time he got to the bottom.

We also went on the bouncy toy.  This one was a fire truck.  Oliver liked trying to shake it to get it to move.  

I took a video with my camera (camera camera, not Flip Camera) of little snippets of his fun time.

He had such a fun time.  Later in the day, I showed Tim these photos and video, and we went to a different park and did more swings!  So fun!
