How was your weekend?

Tim, Oliver, and I had a great weekend! Saturday, I was able to get a bit of cleaning done while Tim was at work (courtesy of Oliver's nap and playtime on the activity mat). I'm finding that trying to clean during the week has turned impossible, besides the small immediate stuff that must be done (bottles, wet towels, kitchen, etc). I was able to take out the recycling, food waste, vacuum the bedrooms, 3 loads of laundry, and even clean a window! Only one, as by the time I was done with that one, Oliver was ready for some loving from me.

My Dad came over on Saturday to visit me and the little guy. Oliver LOVES my Dad. He even gave him a bottle and fell asleep in my Dad's arms for a while! It was super cute.

After Oliver went to bed for the night, Tim and I watched Precious. It was very sad and slightly disturbing. I thought that Mo'Nique did an amazing job in this movie - very believable.

Sunday, the three of us went up to Northgate so Tim could use some Gap gift cards he got for his birthday. Across the way was Gymboree - I asked Tim if we could go in there as Oliver has outgrown most of his socks. While there, Oliver decided he wanted to put on a fashion show. Please notice the "Blue Steel" look he gives in this photo I took with my phone:

Ridiculous, little man! After that, we went to Andrew and Terrell's place and watched the Seahawks embarrass themselves. Oliver also tested out his new jumperoo, which sadly, he is a little too short for currently. I'm giving it another month. Complete with "Blue Steel" look again:

Now back to work, and it's all I can do from just leaving and snuggling up with him!

Not enough time!

I am not one to complain a whole lot on this blog, but I am really not enjoying not seeing little O as much as I like. Last night, I came home and played with him for about 10 minutes. Tim came home and swooped him up, so I made dinner. By the time I finished making dinner, Oliver was asleep for the night! UGH! To be fair, he normally doesn't go to sleep that early (7:30ish), but even so, I felt cheated out of time with him, and it's no one's fault but this stupid government... makes me want to move to France, or something!

Oliver decided he needed a new bath. He loves to lay around like he is in a Turkish spa or something.

Here is one of Oliver and I yesterday.

Lastly, we are still working on getting him to roll over - once this happens, our life as we know it is DONE. He is ::so close:: to it. Luckily, he is not hating tummy time as much as he been. One might even say he is indifferent to it. Here is a little video where he is doing his new sound - but not in full force (camera shy). It sounds like the cross between a possessed baby and two cats fighting. The second half shows him in mid-tummy time. He is doing so good!

Where'd the weekend go?!

While Oliver was busy reigning over his kingdom...

Oliver reigns his kingdom with his sceptor...

...the weekend flew by super quick! The big highlight of the weekend was the remarkable win by the Seahawks! A game that was surely to go down in flames, they rallied their way to an impressive 31 - 6 win over the 49ers. We went down to Travis and Allison's place to watch the game, which meant that Oliver was going to get some Violet love! And this time, I remembered my camera!

Oliver, Tim, and Violet give me their attention... Weeee goes the baby

Oliver got LOTS of Violet kisses (which were quickly washed off once we got home). This dog loves our little guy. She is very protective, to the point where if we do super baby she starts barking as if to say, "Put that baby down, you're going to drop him!" It's all out of love.

Here is an EXTREME close-up of kisses. You can actually see Violet's tongue hanging out.

We also were very productive cleaning our place - even did 3 loads of laundry yesterday, and also did an impromtu Rug Doctoring after my latte seemed to explode out of my hand and onto the carpet (it still did not come up). Oliver went to bed earlier than normal, so Tim and I watched Season 4 finale of Dexter after putting him down. It was a nice way to round out a very busy weekend!

New, wonderful things

One of the wonderful things I've come to love being a mom, is noticing new things that Oliver has never done before. My mom had mentioned that he giggled the other day when she gave him a bath and ran the wash cloth underneath his chin. Last night, Oliver gave us LOTS of laughs when we discovered he is now ticklish! I had seen him laugh before, but last night was more on the verge of, "oh my gosh, I think I might throw up" kind of laughs.

Happy birthday, Byron!

Our friends Gina and Brian invited us over to celebrate Byron's first birthday. Byron, as mentioned in a previous post, was being extra cute for his birthday. We got him some books and Sassy Bucket of Beads - the adults had a lot of fun putting them together and making pretend leis - Byron enjoyed the bucket!

Byron loves the container more than the toy

He then got to rip into some cake. It started very cautiously... and then he figured out how fun and messy it could be! By the end, he was in full sugar rush, and was violently whipping his head around. It was so funny - he had all of us cracking up!

During all this, our little man was very well behaved and tried not to steal Byron's thunder. He was very quiet for the most part - and loved taking a test ride in Byron's old swing:

We all had a very good time. Happy birthday, Byron!

Last working Sunday. ::whew::

My work is changing its hours of operation and will now be closed on Sundays starting next week, so lucky for me this means more time with Tim and Oliver and of course, watching the Seahawks lose!

No new photos or videos, so I'll go into the wayback machine to post some newborn photos.

Quite a grip already! Glamour shot!

It's hard to believe that more than 3 months have passed since he was born! It still seems like just yesterday we came home from the hospital. Here also is another older video, where even his little sounds are different:

Just formula. NOT.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to be off (again, working on Sunday... my last one, whoo hoo!), and I soaked up as much Oliver time as I could. My mom was also off on vacation, prepping to go camping at the Gorge this weekend, so she hung out with me as I went to Costco to pick up some formula. Only formula. If you've been to Costco, you know that is not how it works. Somehow I ended up with other stuff that we definitely needed and will use. Oliver loved looking at everything on the shelves and the lights. We wandered the aisles for a good hour and he was completely content the entire time!

The day before, a friend of ours that we have not seen in forever came over with her little one, Jacob. He is 8 months old, and is super cute. He has so much hair, he already got a haircut! Our condo has not been babyproofed yet, but with him crawling, he showed me what things need to be addressed once Oliver is mobile.

I also wanted to share a few photos that my mom took when she took Oliver down to my grandpa's (we are calling him G G'pa, for Oliver's sake). My mom reminded me how my brother and I would love to stand or sit on the couch and look through the picture window. They have a view of lots of trees and shrubs, which is way interesting for little O.

oliver - looking good in blue Oliver!
