Sickness and shopping

I am beginning to see that sick babies and children is a common occurence. Oliver has a cold. It is not as bad as the last time he was sick. He still tries to be the happy baby he is, and then he coughs, and starts to cry a little. Tim stayed home with him on Wednesday, and I stayed home with him yesterday.

I thought I'd venture out and pick up some more food to make baby food. I finally broke out the shopping cart cover I talked about here. I hadn't used it yet because I was just so nervous that he was going to be too small. I took some photos with my cell phone of his adventure.

You can tell he isn't feeling too good - his eyes aren't open all the way, and his mouth is hanging open. Poor little man.

Oliver, although sick, still seemed to REALLY enjoy sitting in this area. He got to look around and still flirt with all the ladies. So can you believe the steal I got on this?? Note to self: any time I want to buy something, check Me & Moms first!

More hot deals

Tim and I were on the lookout for a shopping cart cover now that Oliver is sitting up (...like a big boy). We went to Babies R Us and also to Merry Go Round in Bellevue and found them to be extremely pricey! $40+ for some fabric? And awful designs? Yucky.

I turned to Me and Moms again to look for one, and found a super cute "shopping nest" and "dining nest" for restaurant high chairs. I found the new ones at: http://www.theshoppingnest.com/ Each separately new runs $40 for the shopping cart and $30 for the high chair cover. It all came in the Matching Carry-All Tote that runs $15. And what price did I pay for this treasure? A measly $7.99. And it looks BRAND NEW - I washed it in hot water and it's good to go! Look for photos to come.

Turning from my hot deals are new photos of the little guy. This one is from last Monday... the beginning of snopocalpse. My mom (TTC) thought she'd bundle up the little man and walk to the grocery store. The trip was cut short when she was not dressed properly. Oliver remained toasty, however.

Super cute, right?! Yesterday, Oliver woke up from a nap in his crib and looked so happy... so I brought some toys in to him. He played with them for a while. Here's one I caught of him showing us that he still doesn't have any teeth.

Oh, and that awesome thermal onesie? Courtesy of his Uncle Jim and Aunt Ali. And although it says 9 months, it fits him perfectly!

More of the same

We had a pretty unproductive weekend due to this craptastic weather (darn you, fall weather), which even ended with thunder and lightning in the Ballard neighborhood. Saturday Oliver and I went to go visit my Dad while Jana was taking her grandson to a movie. Little man loved the pumpkin lights my Dad had up on the mantle. They looked something like this (but cooler):

Oliver always has a lot of fun at his Grandpa's house. Afterwards, we went home and put together Oliver's new activity mat. On Friday, the part that held the arms together shattered so I stopped by Me and Moms and picked up a "new" one for $10. This one has sounds and lights, however the toys do not hang as high. But for $10, I am not going to complain! Here is Oliver doing tummy time on the new mat:

Yesterday Tim and I and the rest of Seattle (apparently) went to get brunch, and after getting shut down at Portage Bay and Julias, we ended up at Blue Star in Wallingford. Oliver was good the entire time! He was just content to stare at the lights, ceiling fans, paintings, etc... later in the day, Tim took Oliver down to visit with Trav and Al while I stayed home and got some "me" time in. I took advantage of the time by cleaning the fireplace out (whoot whoot) and watching one of the worst movies I've seen in a while, "Dear John." The rest of the day was pretty boring, but we did get some pretty good giggles in at the end of the day:

This was the highlight of the day, as his laughs are so infectious. I love how he anticipates it and starts to squeal before it even happens. Smart baby.

Back to the grind...

Today is my first day back to work. Between the 450+ e-mails waiting for me, the catching up with co-workers, my mind has been on the little guy ALL DAY. It's quite exhausting. I've been counting down the minutes until I'm off so I can race down I-5 and say hello the the little man.

This weekend was busy - Sunday, our good friends Andrew and Terrell came over for a bit - Tim then got some man time in with Andrew and Travis, and I got some lady time in and grabbed a coffee with Terrell and Oliver. I'm pretty sure Oliver knew something was up because he was kinda fussy all day yesterday! It also made him super tired at night for which I was thankful for. He slept A LOT last night. I'm talkin, 8+ hours. WOW.

Saturday I picked and posted my first box on ThredUP. I have been introduced to so many new things with this baby, I know, and this one is just as cool! How it works is that you list a box of clothes for someone to pick (and they send you the boxes). After that, you can pick a box of your own - and then, voila! $13 later, a box of gently used clothes arrives at your door. You get rid of your clothes, and get more clothes in bigger sizes (thus, you Thread Up). It's the perfect option for us since we don't have any space, and don't know any boys being born soon.

Shenanigans!

This week I was on the hunt for an activity mat. Little man has been reaching for toys I dangle in front of him, and you know what? My arm was getting tired! Rather than spend $70+, I hit up Me and Moms and found just what I was looking for! A perfect mat for the stealthy price of $7.50! What a deal! I washed the blanket part (which, by the way, is the UGLIEST thing I've seen in a while... I went ahead and put our own blanket over it), hung our own toys and mirror, and Oliver was quite pleased with the whole thing!

Other new things? I'm glad you asked, as it gives me a chance to show off the cutest thing ever. Have you heard of BabyLegs? No? They are leg warmers for babies. Now before you start singing "She's a maniac, maniac on the floor," let me tell you how wonderful these things are! They make changing diapers WAY easier than taking pants on and off and on and off again! Also, when it comes time for crawling, these will save his poor little knees.
